An Odd Dream

I had a dream last night that my house had been broken into. Nothing was taken, but Marxist slogans were written all over the walls. Basically saying that since I owned a home and owned stocks I was a bad guy.

I went outside to check on the people I had hired to work on my lawn. One of them was a young lady wearing a skirt that looked like it came from a thrift store and Buddy Holly glasses. I don't remember what the others looked like. I think they were guys, but they were all twenty-something hipsters like her. I wondered if they were the ones who broke in.

I considered this dream might have stemmed  from the fact that I teach at a university, live in a university area, and am therefore always around people who are to the left of me politically, a lot younger than me, or both. A lot of my friends (real life, facebook, and livejournal) fit into this category. If you are reading this and it describes you, please don't doubt that I value your friendship (especially since  you are reading my livejournal!!!).

But I do think I might need to find some middle-aged conservative friends for balance.

This dream sounds like part of that movie "The Edukators", I think it was. There were these youthful radicals who'd break into rich people's houses and take nothing, but rearrange their furniture and leave a message saying "you have too much stuff".
(I haven't seen that movie, but have read a summary of it.)

"I teach at a university, live in a university area, and am therefore always around people who are to the left of me politically..."

Story of my life. :) Apart from the university and teaching bit.
