Writer's Block: Put it all together, it spells Mother

What's the most important lesson your mom taught you?

My father had the habit of sitting on the den floor drinking coffee. The kitchen was adjacent, and my mother often took the coffee pot into the den to top him up.

One day I was in the kitchen when she did that. When she got back she said to me "I just love to refill his coffee cup. But you know what? I could never have married a man who expected that or demanded it of me." She always refilled his cup and enjoyed doing it because he was appreciative and didn't take it for granted.

I don't think anyone could realistically expect more from their parents than the wisdom I gleaned from that very brief conversation.
