Wisdom from The Phantom Tollbooth

I reread the Phantom Tollbooth earlier this year. I'd read it as a child and it impressed me greatly. One particular passage stuck with me through the years and made me want to reread it. It was an admonition about using time wisely.

I'd forgotten a lot of the details,  which my rereading filled back in. The character that said these words was the Watchdog...a dog that is literally part watch. When the young hero Milo tells him he is "just killing time" the Watchdog's response is

"KILLING TIME?? It's bad enough wasting time without killing it!"

The words struck with me through the years, and help remind me to make the most of what time I have.
