Writer's Block: Department of Stereotypes

One of the most popular gender stereotypes is that women ask for directions while men would rather be lost than ask for help. In your personal experience, does this stereotype hold true?
It kind of does for me. I say "kind of " because of the way the question is phrased. Being lost and asking for help are not the only options. Figuring out how to get to your destination is a third option, and  and all other things being equal, I prefer that option if I have enough knowledge.

And I don't think that's such a horrible thing. There's nothing wrong with wanting to be as self-reliant as possible.

When I was a kid,  I was not a typical boy in lots of ways. For instance, I wasn't good at sports. I finally got over being embarrassed about not conforming to male stereotypes.

In recent years, I have finally gotten over being embarrassed when I do conform to male stereotypes. I think both are worthy achievements.
