book meme

OK, it's time for me to step away from the internet. I just googled "book meme" and found the following at jonobacon's website (I have no idea who jonobacon is):

  • Grab the nearest book.
  • Open it to page 56.
  • Find the fifth sentence.
  • Post the text of the sentence in your journal along with these instructions.
  • Don’t dig for your favorite book, the cool book, or the intellectual one: pick the CLOSEST.

Well I followed the instructions to the letter. I grabbed the copy of Randy Pausch's The Last Lecture sitting next to my computer screen and page 56 is blank. Damn. I wonder how many people that has happened to?

There's no instructions in the meme for a blank page 56, so I guess you're supposed to grab the second closest book:

"But we couldn't think of another soul"
From Leaving Cheyenne by Larry McMurtry

Not bad for a random sentence. It speaks well of McMurtry's talent as a wordsmith.
