Poetry Reading After Action Report 3/10/2011
The poetry reading had a lot of readers Thursday night, so I only read a couple of poems. I didn't have any memorial haiku.
The first was a poem I don't think I've ever read at the poetry reading called Girl With Violin. I wrote it many years ago about a young lady who lived in my neighborhood. She was about 15 at the time, and I was a little wary about sharing it with her. Folks might talk, and not in a good way.
She is in her twenties now and about to be married, so the qualms are gone. Last month on her birthday I told her about it and sent her a copy.
She seemed fairly pleased with it.
As I write this, I probably should have asked her to come to the poetry reading. I need to plan these things out. Maybe after a few months I can do that.
My second poem was A Pig, an oldy but goody I've read at several poetry readings. Folks don't seem to get tired of it though. And there were new people who hadn't heard it before.
