The Meaning Of Christmas

When I was in graduate school at Chapel Hill. Fred Brooks was a regular participant, and he always waxed as wise and eloquent on scripture as he did on computer science.

One of his remarks always comes to mind this time of  year. The bible study where he made this remark was during the summer, but we were studying the story of Christ's birth. Our choice of study gave new meaning to the words "Christmas in July."

Dr. Brooks remarked that the story of Christmas reminds us that "not only did Christ suffer the indignity of death on a cross for us, he also suffered the indignity of having his diapers changed." You always hear a lot of people reminding you of the reason for the season this time of year, but I don't think I've ever heard it expressed as eloquently as Dr. Brooks did on that hot July day.
