Theme Music Composers Are Biting The Dust!

I just read that Alexander Courage, composer of the Star Trek theme song, has died.  This is just two days after the death of Earle Hagen, who wrote the theme music for The Andy Griffith Show and The Dick Van Dyke Show.

Here's some interesting trivia about the two Hagen themes I mentioned. They both had lyrics that were never used in the shows openings. The lyrics to the Dick Van Dyke theme were written by Morey Amsterdam, who played Buddy Sorel on the show. The Andy Griffith lyrics were written by character actor Everett Sloane, probably best known for playing Mr. Bernstein in Citizen Kane.

At any rate, TV theme composers are dropping like flies. I am getting very worried about Vic Mizzy.
